Match Recap: Lions Play Tough Game Closing out Their Season

Dayton - The Dayton Dutch Lions FC (6-17-4), 22 pts took on the Wilmington Hammerheads FC (8-7-11), 35 pts at home for their final game of the season. Wilmington would walk away with the victory and a place in the playoffs, scoring four on the night as Dayton struggled to find the Hammerheads net.

The Lions finished their season, winning only on the road, unable to win a game at home

Wilmington would score in the 9' when a foul was called on the Dayton 30 yard line. Sunny Jane would put the ball into the box and find the head of Samuel Ochoa. Jane would end the game with an assist and two goals, one off a direct kick in the 17' that would hit the inside of the post and bounce in and one in the beginning of the second half.

Dayton would start out cautiously in the first half. They would be led by Cruyff and even though they would retain some good possession, they could not score.

In the second half, Wilmington would finish off the match i n the 82' when Steven Miller would find Corben Bone and he would slide the ball into the far corner.

Dayton would press and shoot as Joe Broekhuizen would take aim along with Taylor Bowlin and Karamba Janneh, but Wilmington's keeper Brad Stuver did not al low a goal.
