Dawgz earn fourth win in a row

OKLAHOMA CITY- The Dawgz hosted the Amarillo Dusters on June 9 at the Ford Center. A crowd of 7,106 helped the Dawgz to their fourth win in a row and their fourth win over a Texas based team this season. The Dawgz beat the Dusters 46-36 on Compassionate Care Hospice Field.

The Yard Dawgz were the first to strike when QB Stan Hill connected with WR/DB Danny Howard on a 31 yard TD pass. The Dawgz defense stepped up and held the Dusters to a field goal for their first points of the game. Each team scored one more time in the first quarter to bring the score to 13-10, Oklahoma City.

The Dusters scored once more in the half when QB Steve Panella connected with WR Steven Bergeski for a 4 yard TD pass. Ending the half on a positive note for the Yard Dawgz was Stan Hill on a quarterback sneak with one second left on the clock. The play brought the score at the half to 33-17, Oklahoma City.

Dusters QB Steve Panella went 22-of-36 for 202 yards and 1 interception. The Dusters were held scoreless on 5 possessions, due in part to the ADT Defensive Player of the Game Clarence LeBlanc. LeBlanc had 6 solo tackles and 2 pass breakups.

The Dawgz offense had a productive evening. QB Stan Hill went 23-of-37 and had 292 yards. The Schutt Offensive Player of the Game also had 5 passing TDs and 1 rushing TD.

The Dawgz are back on the road next week when they travel to division rival, the Arkansas Twisters (6-3). Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Alltel Arena. Both teams are 3-1 in division play, tied for second. For more information, call 405.228.3294 or visit www.okcyarddawgz.com.
