SAN DIEGO - Andre Simpson improved to 3-0 versus San Diego in 2006 today as Long Beach downed San Diego 7-2. The Armada raised their record to 4-1 in San Diego this season.

Ryan Webb walked to lead off the game for the Armada and Adonis Harrison singled to put two runners on with no one out. Randall Shelley then singled in Webb and gave Long Beach the early 1-0 lead.

After Long Beach scored another run it would be San Diego's turn in the bottom of the second inning. After Tony Garcia and Victor Roldan singled, Johnny Day then singled to center field to drive in the Surf Dawgs' first run of the game. After two innings it was 2-1 Armada.

Long Beach then scored two in the fifth and three in the sixth to blow open the game. San Diego was able to muster up another run in the bottom of the fifth inning but it wouldn't be enough. Andre Simpson (3-1) went seven innings allowing two runs on nine hits with eight strikeouts to pick up the win for the Armada. Marcos Mendoza (1-3) took the loss for San Diego, giving up four runs (three earned) in 4 2/3 innings.
