SAN JOSE, Calif. (Mar. 29, 2005) — San Jose offensive specialist RASHIED DAVIS was today named the Arena Football League's Offensive Player of the Week for a second straight week after tying a franchise record with seven touchdowns in the SaberCats 81-75 win at Las Vegas on March 28.

Davis (5-10, 180, San Jose State) tied James Roe's 2004 record for touchdowns in a game, which was set on April 4 in Tampa Bay, by catching three scoring passes, scoring three times on the ground and adding his fourth kickoff return score of the year as the SaberCats amassed the third-highest point total in team history.

The third-year AFL veteran established a career-best with 163 receiving yards on a career-high tying 10 receptions, totaled 129 kickoff return yards and added 10 rushing yards to become the first San Jose player to record consecutive 300 all-purpose yard games by totaling 302.

His record tying seventh touchdown of the game came on a 40-yard pass from Mark Grieb one play after he recovered an on-side kick to give San Jose an 81-68 lead with 48 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

"He's real explosive," said SaberCats head coach Darren Arbet. "He has the potential to be one of the best kick returners and specialists in this league."

This is the second AFL weekly award for the Los Angeles native and he is the first San Jose player to receive league recognition in consecutive weeks.

The SaberCats return to action when they host Western Division rival Arizona at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3. Individual game tickets are available and can be purchased through any Northern California TicketMaster outlet, online at www.ticketmaster.com and at the HP Pavilion box office.
