Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Soul rookie wide receiver/linebacker Marcus Knight has been named US Army Ironman of the Week for his efforts in Saturday's 64-41 win over the Grand Rapids Rampage. The announcement was made on ESPNews this afternoon at 4pm (ET).
Knight (6-1, 192, Michigan) had a career day for the Soul (4-5). The rookie recorded a career and game-high five touchdowns, tying the franchise mark set earlier this season by offensive specialist Steve Smith and wide receiver/linebacker Sean Scott. Knight caught 11 passes for 142 yards and added four solo tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery on defense.
Knight is the second Soul player to receive a weekly award this season. Scott received the same honor for his play in Weeks 1 and 2.
The Soul travel to Columbus this Sunday, April 3, looking to even their record at 5-5. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. (ET) and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports (NBC-10 WCAU - Philadelphia). The game can also be heard on Philadelphia's News Talk 990 AM WNTP and via the web at www.philadelphiasoul.com.
