Orlando Predators News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 29, 2005) -- For the second time in three weeks, Orlando Predators defensive specialist Kenny "The Glove" McEntyre has been named the Arena Football League's "ADT Defensive Player of the Week."

McEntyre was honored for his play against the Austin the Wranglers, where he led the team in tackles with seven. He also batted down two passes, had an interception, forced a fumble and had a fumble recovery. McEntyre led a defense that allowed just two offensive touchdowns all game. The 21 total points allowed was the second fewest in the Arena Football League this year.

McEntyre won the same award two weeks ago for his play against New Orleans. The five-time All-Arena player has won the "ADT Defensive Player of the Year" award three times.

In other news, the Predators--looking to improve their pass rush for the 2005 stretch run--traded OL/DL Cecil Caldwell along with the Predators first pick in the next AFL dispersal draft to the Grand Rapids Rampage in exchange for OL/DL William Carr.

In Carr, the Predators receive an experienced pass rusher. Carr, in his fourth season, began his AFL career with Orlando in 1999. He played two seasons with the Georgia Force, before signing as a free agent with Grand Rapids this season. In five games this season, he has recorded 5.5 total tackles. For his AFL career, he has 27 tackles with 7.5 quarterback sacks.

"We felt we needed one more defensive-minded lineman for the stretch run and William Carr certainly fits that need," Orlando Predators head coach Jay Gruden said. "A lineman's value is not always measured by the number of tackles and sacks. William can provide that push up the middle that makes it easier for the outside players to make plays."

Carr, 6-2, 330, played four seasons at Michigan – earning all-conference and All-America honors as a senior. In addition to his AFL experience, he also played in NFL-Europe and spent time in the NFL with Cincinnati, Atlanta, Carolina and San Francisco.

Caldwell played in seven games for the Predators, recording 5.5 tackles and one tackle-for-loss.
