
Davis contract not to be renewed

STOCKTON, Calif. * The Stockton Lightning announced today it would not be renewing Head Coach Richard Davis' contract for the 2007 af2 football season.
"For a variety of reasons, we feel it is necessary and in the best interest of our organization to make a change with respect to our head coaching position," said Lightning team president Dan Chapman. "These decisions are obviously not easy, but we are committed to moving forward and finding a new coach that can successfully lead Lightning football for years to come."
Davis coached the Lightning to a 5-11 record during its' inaugural season. The team finished fourth in the West Division and missed making a playoff spot in the National Conference.
The team has not announced plans regarding Davis' replacement at this time.
