Bakersfield Blitz battle the Central Valley Coyotes in the first round of playoffs

Bakersfield - The Bakersfield Blitz will battle the Central Valley Coyotes in the first round of playoffs on Friday, August 4, in Fresno. Kick off is set for 8:00 p.m. at Selland Arena.

The Blitz and the Coyotes have met three times this season with the Coyotes winning the series, 2-3. In their first meeting, the Blitz defeated the Coyotes 38-28 on April 9 in Fresno. When the Blitz returned to Fresno on May 27 the Coyotes sent them home with a 46-56 defeat. In their last meeting on July 15, the Coyotes won again, 51-37.

The Blitz has finished the 2006 regular season with an overall record of 9-7. The Blitz defense ranked number one in the af2 league for team leaders in categories of Total Defense and Pass Defense, and ranked second in the category of Sacks By. Among the many powerhouse athletes for individual rankings are Blitz OL/DL Jerry Turner who ranked number one in sacks with 16, and Blitz DS Alex Wallace who ranked number one in interceptions with 11.

The Blitz is offering a Blitz Booster Bus Trip to the playoff game in Fresno. For $45, each fan will receive transportation, a game ticket, Bud Light refreshments, Frito Lay snacks, Little Caesar's pizza, and raffle prizes. To reserve a seat, call Lori at 377-BLITZ (2548).
