CAMDEN, NJ - The Riversharks (4-8, 44-38) took their first series of the second half Wednesday against the Lancaster Barnstormers (5-7, 35-47). Left fielder Ron Davenport was relentless at the plate-refusing to let yet another game slip from the Sharks.
Davenport homered with one on during the third off Josh Hall to put the Sharks up 2-0. Designated hitter Kyle Nichols knocked an RBI single later in the inning to make it 3-0.
Davenport encored in the fifth inning with a solo shot to left off Hall. He finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run.
Gabe Suarez and Sheldon Fulse collected two hits apiece for the Sharks.
Starter Tony Peguero (7-1) held the Barnstormers to one hit over five innings. He collects his seventh win. Hall (6-2) is tagged with the loss, and Alec Zumwalt earns his eighteenth save.
The Riversharks hit the road for series against the Bridgeport Bluefish and Long Island Ducks. They return home August 1 for a series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Tickets are available online at www.riversharks.com or by calling 1-866-SHARKS-9.
