Houston Dash News Release
KANSAS CITY, Mo - The Houston Dash (1-1-1, 4 points) are in Missouri to play the reigning two-time NWSL Champions FC Kansas City (FCKC 0-1-2, 1 point). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CDT at Swope Soccer Village.
The game will be broadcast live on HoustonDashSoccer.com/live.
The Dash drew with Sky Blue FC on Friday, April 29 and GK Lydia Williams registered her first shutout with the club. DF Rebecca Moros returns to Swope Soccer Village after she started all 20 regular-season games, registered one assist and helped FCKC record 11 shutouts last season. MF Amber Brooks returns to the team after missing the last game for a family event.
FCKC fell 1-0 to Seattle Reign FC last week in a rematch of 2015 NWSL Championship Final. FCKC is led by U.S. Women's National Team players Becky Sauerbrunn and Heather O'Reilly. Additionally, Yael Averbuch and Shea Groom have stepped up after Amy Rodriguez and Sydney Leroux took time off this season to welcome new additions to their family. Rodriguez is a noticeable absence due to her timely goals. The USWNT veteran scored three goals in two NWSL championship matches.
FCKC leads the all-time series with the Dash with a record of 3-2-1. The Dash picked up their first win of the series last July in a match that finished 3-2 at BBVA Compass Stadium. MF Carli Lloyd sealed the victory in the 86th minute with a 30 yard shot past Nicole Barnhart's near post.
The Dash return to BBVA Compass on Friday, May 20 to host Alex Morgan and the Orlando Pride at 7:30 p.m. CDT. For tickets for all Dash games, visit HoustonDashSoccer.com/tickets or call 713-276-GOAL.
