PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Western New York Flash returned to winning ways on Saturday, May 7, against Sky Blue FC, coming away with a 2-1 result. The game marked a big night for not only the Flash, but also the NWSL as Jeon Ga-Eul made her first start and appearance - becoming the first South Korean player to do so. The match also featured the team's first multi-goal game in the 2016 NWSL Regular Season and its first goal off the run of play.

The match started out even with both teams seeing some great chances, including an Adriana Leon shot hitting the post int he 31st minute, but Sky Blue came out of the first half ahead with a goal in the 35th minute off a through ball from Raquel Rodriguez to find Maya Hayes behind the defense.

After the half, the Flash, who came into the match leading the league in shots (47) but with only one goal off a penalty kick, got their second penalty of the season off another handball in the box call. Sky Blue goalkeeper Caroline Stanley was issued a yellow card before the kick after making her dissent for the call known. U.S. Women's National Team and Flash defender Jaelene Hinkle stepped up to take the kick and converted from the spot in the 72nd minute to level the match.

Only minutes later, Hinkle found McDonald in the box who challenged Stanley in the air. Midfielder Sam Mewis wasted no time by crashing in to put the ball in the back of the net. Mewis' goal secured the win for her team and gave the Flash their first multi-goal game and first run-of-play goal of the season.

The Flash remain on the road as they take on the Orlando Pride on Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Camping World Stadium. The team will return to Rochester for a Sky Blue FC rematch on Saturday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the match are now available at wnyflash.com/tickets.
