Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - This Thursday, the Winston-Salem Dash will hold a "Call-A-Thon" to raise money for a good cause. Members of the Dash front office will be calling fans and season ticket holders to participate in the 2011 Commemorative Brick Program to benefit "The Centers for Exceptional Children" of Winston-Salem and other Dash charities.

Everyone in the Dash organization, from ownership to the operations department to the team president, will participate in the Call-A-Thon, which will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday. They will sell commemorative bricks that can be personalized with names and/or messages and will be placed in the main entrance plaza at BB&T Ballpark for fans of current and future generations to see on their way to Dash games.

Proceeds from the brick sales will benefit The Centers for Exceptional Children, the official 2011 charity partner of the Dash's Commemorative Brick Program, and numerous Dash community outreach programs. The bricks may be purchased for $125 for the first brick and $75 for each additional brick (discounted from $100). Fans may also call to purchase bricks by dialing (336) 714-2287 in advance or on the night of the event.

About the Dash's Commemorative Brick Program: More than 210,000 bricks were used in the construction of BB&T Ballpark, but the most important bricks lie just outside its main gates. The Commemorative Brick Program started in 2010 to coincide with the opening of BB&T Ballpark with the goal of letting fans put their own personalized stamp on the Winston-Salem community. Fans may purchase personalized bricks to be installed into the plaza outside the main gates of BB&T Ballpark. Each year at the Dash's annual Coaches Luncheon, the Dash name the charity that will benefit from the program. In 2010, the Dash partnered with Brenner Children's Hospital; The Centers for Exceptional Children is the partner for 2011. When fans participate in the Commemorative Brick Program, they are not just investing in a keepsake that will be around for years to come, they are also investing into the community.

About The Centers for Exceptional Children: The Centers for Exceptional Children is based in Winston-Salem and combines The Special Children's School and The Children's Center. They are dedicated to providing programs for children with special needs, as they focus on the individual needs of each child and his/her family. The Centers serve more than 220 children between the ages of birth and 11 years old. Many of the Centers families relocate to our great city of Winston-Salem from across the United States in order to provide the unique opportunities that the Centers offers their special needs child.

The Winston-Salem Dash are the Class-A Advanced minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To purchase tickets and for more information, please call 336-714-2287 or visit www.wsdash.com .
