Dash National Anthem Tryouts this Saturday
February 28, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Winston-Salem Dash News Release
For the third straight year, the Winston-Salem Dash, in conjunction with the Winston-Salem Journal, will hold public tryouts to select the local singers, musical groups, and musicians that will perform the National Anthem prior to each of the Dash's 2011 home games. More than 150 entrants will sing a capella versions of "The Star-Spangled Banner" before a rotating panel of guest judges. The entrants that score the highest will be invited to perform the National Anthem before a game this season. The entrants that receive the five highest scores will be eligible to win the grand prize package consisting of the opportunity to perform at the Dash game on July 4 and four club-level game tickets that include all-you-can-eat access to the Womble Carlyle Club and free Dash hats.
Those who were not among the first 150 entrants to pre-register may still register on Saturday as stand-by performers. Last year, more than 200 singers, groups, and musicians tried out to perform at 2010 Dash games.
The Dash will next play at BB&T Ballpark on March 30 at 6 PM when the Chicago White Sox visit Winston-Salem for an exhibition game. Only current season ticket holders may purchase White Sox at this time. The general public may begin to purchase tickets to the White Sox game and any regular season Dash game on Saturday, March 12. For more information on how to purchase tickets for the 2011 season, contact the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or www.wsdash.com .
The regular season begins on April 8 at Kinston with the 2011 home opener on April 15.
