Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem Dash cracked big hit after crushing big hit on Tuesday night en route to a 10-3 win over the Carolina Mudcats at BB&T Ballpark.
Scott Snodgress (1-0) made quite the impressive debut for Winston-Salem (17-15, 61-40). The left-hander struck out a career-high 10 batters, and held Carolina (17-15, 49-53) to one run over six innings. The Mudcats struck out a season-high 16 times.
The Dash have outscored the Mudcats 22-5 in two games of the series so far. The White Sox's Advanced-A affiliated recorded 12 hits, eight of which went for extra bases. Dan Black led the charge with three hits, including a pair of doubles and three RBI.
Joseph Colon (0-2) struggled to keep the ball down in his second start for the Mudcats. The right-hander out of Caguas, Puerto Rico, allowed nine runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings. He gave up a two-run homer to Mike Blanke and surrendered five doubles.
The Mudcats received a home run from Carlos Moncrief for the second night in a row, and Delvi Cid cracked his third of the year with a line drive over the right field wall in the third inning.
Bo Greenwell extended his hitting streak to 14 games with an eighth inning single. The streak is the longest such for Carolina this year. Tony Wolters recorded his team-leading fifth triple of the year with a ground ball into the right field corner.
Carolina continues their four-game series at Winston-Salem on Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. The Mudcats return home July 31 to host Myrtle Beach for three games. Tickets are available through the box office by calling (919) 269-2287 or visiting carolinamudcats.com.
