WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JUNE 19, 2012) - The Dash's three All-Star selections each played a pivotal role Tuesday night as the Carolina League defeated the California League 9-1 to end a three-year losing streak. Brady Shoemaker also won the Home Run Derby, which took place prior to the game.

Winston-Salem pitcher Matt Heidenreich started the game for the Carolina League All-Stars. In his home ballpark Heidenreich allowed a base hit and a run but retired the final three batters he faced.

Michael Earley started in right field and played the entirety of the game. He doubled and scored a run in the seventh to help push the Carolina League's lead to 9-1. Earley also participated in the Home Run Derby and knocked three home-runs.

Brady Shoemaker took the home crown after hitting the necessary three home runs in the final round to top his fellow finalist, former Winston-Salem Warthog C.J. Retherford. Shoemaker then started in left field for the Carolina All-Stars and finished the night 2-for-4 with a run in the fourth inning. He was one of two players to post a multi-hit game.

The Dash are first-half Southern Division Champions and earned their 25th postseason appearance since joining the Carolina League. The second-half of the season begins Thursday in Potomac. Winston-Salem returns home Sunday with a 5:00 p.m. start against the Salem Red Sox.

The Winston-Salem Dash are the Class-A Advanced minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To purchase tickets and for more information, please call 336-714-2287 or visit www.wsdash.com .
