Danville Braves lose second straight to Princeton

DANVILLE - After losing the home opener, the Danville Braves (5-3) dropped their second straight to Princeton (6-2) by a score of 7-2, leaving seven runners stranded through out the night.

Braves starter Todd Blackford went 5 innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits, one strikeout and one hit-by-pitch. Nick Tisone came into relieve Blackford and allowed the other four runs to score in two innings of work on six hits, one walk and three strike-outs. Bryan Johnson and Donovan Hendricks worked the final two innings for the D-Braves and got three strikeouts among the pair.

The Braves offense was led by Eric Campbell who had two hits, was hit by a pitch and had an RBI scoring Danville's last run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Designated hitter Max Ramirez also had two hits for the D-Braves while Ovandy Suero, Yunel Escobar and Junior Guerra had a hit apiece. Yunel Escobar was ejected in the bottom of the eighth inning for arguing balls and strikes.

Princeton starter Jason Cayton went five innings allowing both runs on four hits, one strikeout, one walk and a hit-by-pitch. Devil Rays reliever Matt Walker pitched four shutout innings to pick up his first save of the season allowing four hits and had five strikeouts.

Danville finishes the three game series with Princeton on Wednesday at 7:00 pm before the Greeneville Astros come to visit for three games.
