The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced today the Week Six Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week winners. Utica City FC's Gordy Gurson earned the offensive win and the Tacoma Stars' Danny Waltman won the defensive honors.
Gordy Gurson secured this week's vote by scoring the game-winning goal in overtime for City against the visiting Mesquite Outlaws. This marked the Outlaws first defeat of the campaign. Gurson recorded a hat-trick, a game-winning goal, and six points this week. The Utica newcomer is quickly making his mark for the squad leading in points with 17.
The vote for Danny Waltman as Defensive Player of the Week was unanimous. His lights out performance in Kansas City helped lift Tacoma over the home team. He registered 28 saves in the victory. Waltman's save percentage now leads the league at .757.
