Daniel Lacroix Hired as Head Coach

Moncton - The Moncton Wildcats are pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Lacroix as their new Head Coach. Lacroix will make his debut behind the bench on December 28 as the Wildcats take on the Charlottetown Islanders.

"Dan is a great communicator with tremendous coaching experience," said Robert K. Irving, President of the Moncton Wildcats. "He is passionate and brings that enthusiasm to the rink every day. We are excited about Dan joining our team and helping us win."

Lacroix served as assistant coach with the Montreal Canadiens from 2014 to 2018. Lacroix was an assistant coach with the New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers prior to joining the Montreal Canadiens. Most recently, he was Head Coach of the Lithuania National Team.

"I'm excited I've been given the opportunity to coach the Wildcats and look forward to returning to Moncton," said Lacroix. "This is a strong team and a premier organization. I'm looking forward to meeting the players and staff, and getting ready for a solid second half of the season."

Lacroix was an assistant coach with the Moncton Wildcats from 2002 to 2006. During this time, the team reached the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League finals twice, including winning a President's Cup in 2006. Lacroix took over as Moncton's interim head coach for the second half of the 2004-2005 season.

"Dan knows the organization well," added Ritchie Thibeau, Director of Hockey Operations, "He understands our culture and our values. That was very important to us when selecting our new Head Coach. Dan has been a part of winning organizations and understands what it takes to win.

Lacroix was drafted by the New York Rangers in the second round, 33rd overall, of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. A seven-year NHL veteran left wing, Lacroix played for the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers, and the New York Islanders.
