Daniel Altshuller Drafted 69th Overall

Oshawa, Ontario - Oshawa General Daniel Altshuller has been selected in the 3rd round, 69th overall, by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

The Generals acquired Altshuller in August of 2011 from the Belleville Bulls, who drafted him in the 3rd round of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, 45th overall. In the 2011-2012 season, his rookie season, he posted 11 wins and 16 losses in 30 games with a .900 save percentage. He also played a major role in the Generals post season, totalling a .918 save percentage in 5 games.

We look forward to helping him achieve his goals of contributing to the success of the Generals as well as becoming a member of the Carolina Hurricanes," commented Generals General Manager Jeff Twohey. "His performance in the playoffs last season bodes very well for the future."

The Nepean, Ontario native represented Canada at the 2011 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, winning gold. He also won the gold medal with Team Ontario at the 2011 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where he won all 6 games, posting a 1.66 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.

Before joining the Generals, Altshuller played with the Nepean Raiders of the CCHL where he tallied a .906 save percentage in 43 games in the 2010-2011 season.
