Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release
On Monday afternoon, the North American Hockey League announced its' stars of the week, which included Knights forward Adrian Danchenko who was named East Division Star of the Week.
Danchenko is the second player from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the last three weeks to receive this honor. Earlier in October, goalie Zach Stejskal was recognized as a star.
The Knights took two of three games over last week against the rival Northeast Generals at Revolution Ice Centre. Danchenkop scored seven points and recorded at least a goal and an assist in each. This effort includes a shorthanded tally in the first game against the Generals, as well as a power play goal in the final contest between the teams. The Palm City, Florida native now has nine points in his first six games this season.
"Adrian showed how he can truly take over the game and put the team on his back," said Knights Head Coach Tom Kowal. "He is a threat in all situations throughout a game as evidenced by him scoring power play, short handed, and even strength goals this weekend. His experience on our team as a three-year NAHL veteran is a big reason for our early season success."
Already committed to Alabama-Huntsville, Danchenko is enjoying his third season of hockey in the NAHL. He has been a Wilkes-Barre product all the way, as the forward skated in the previous Knights U16 and U18 programs in the NAPHL. Overall, Danchenko has worn a Knights jersey for 143 games.
