Danbury Downs Titans 6-1 to Split Mid-Week Series

The Titans fell to the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks yesterday 6 - 1. The Tricks win enabled them to split the mid-week two-game series. It was the Titans first loss in five games this season to Danbury.

The Tricks opened the scoring just 1:13 into the game. Danbury's Robert Hyde picked up the loose puck just inside his own blueline and made a stretch pass up to a breaking Hunter Young, who skated in all alone on Titans netminder Ben Charette and deked around the goalie and snuck the puck between his pads and the post third goal of the season.

Danbury's Miles Harrington was called for slashing at 8:15 of the first period. Eighteen seconds later David Posma knotted the score at one. After the ensuing faceoff, Nick Ring picked up the loose puck at the far side half wall and passed it to Michael Young to his left. Young sent it back to Posma at the point and the defenseman sent it up the boards to Ring. As Ring was about to be checked, he send a return pass to Posma who took a clapper that found its way through a maze and past Danbury's netminder Josh Seeley for Posma's third goal of the season.

The Tricks regained the leads with 9:33 remaining in the second period. After Danbury's Jackson Hughes fanned on a shot in the slot, Tyler Sanborn went to pick up the loose puck but he was stripped of it and the biscuit slid to Boris Skalos who took a clapper and the puck went high and over the blocker shoulder of Charette and into the net for his second goal of the season.

Danbury would double their lead less than a minute later. Jazz Krivtsov picked up the loose puck along the near side boards and skated through center ice and into the offensive zone. As he gained the line, Krivtsov made a cross-ice pass in the slot to Mike Salandra who redirected the puck past Charette for his fifth goal of the season.

The Jr. Hat Tricks added three, third period goals to close out the scoring and make it a 6 - 1 game. Charette stopped 23 of 29 shots while Seeley turned aside 44 of 45 in the win. Click here for the box score.

The Titans are off this weekend but will resume play next weekend as they host the Maine Nordiques for a two-game series.
