Clinton LumberKings News Release

Clinton, IA - Dan Paolini has arguably been the hottest hitter in all of Minor League Baseball in the past month. He was rewarded for those efforts on Tuesday when he was named Midwest League Offensive Player of the Week. From August 27-September 3, the LumberKings' infielder hit .500 (16-32) with three doubles, four home runs, nine runs scored and 13 RBIs while drawing four walks.

In the month of August, the LumberKings turned in a 23-7 record to spearhead their run to the second-half Western Division title. Paolini led the charge by hitting .361 (44-122) with 23 runs, 37 RBIs, nine doubles and 11 home runs. The staggering numbers came at a great time for Clinton as they won 48 games in the second-half, a franchise record for wins in a half. The previous high was 44 wins by the Clinton C-Sox in 1963 and the Clinton Giants in 1993.

Paolini becomes the fourth Clinton player honored with the award this year. Ji-Man Choi was named the Midwest League Offensive Player of the Week from June 25-July 1st. Jordan Shipers was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week from July 9-15 and David Colvin was also named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week from July 23-July 29.

Clinton begins play in the Midwest League Playoffs on Wednesday with a home game against the Beloit Snappers at 6:30. The three-game series will shift to Beloit on Thursday for game two and then game three, if necessary, on Friday in Beloit.
