
Dan LaCosta Signs With Columbus Blue Jackets

Barrie, ON- The Columbus Blue Jackets recently announced they have signed Barrie Colts netminder Dan LaCosta to a three year Entry Level contract with their club.
A native of Labrador City, Newfoundland, LaCosta was originally the Blue Jackets' third round pick (93rd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He ranked in the top five in the OHL in 2005-06 in all statistical categories among goaltenders with a 36-17-1 overall record, .915 save percentage, 2.55 goals against average and six shutouts.
LaCosta appeared in a total of 170 career OHL games and posted 86-49-9 overall record with a career save percentage of .905, career goals against average of 2.84 and eleven shutouts.
He was named the Eastern Conference's Most Improved Player in the 2005-06 Coach's Poll, and earned a roster spot on the 2005-06 OHL All-Star Team.
