Dallas Sidekicks Name Simon Bozas as Head Coach and GM
Allen, TX (Oct. 20, 2015) - The Dallas Sidekicks have named a new head coach and general manager. Effective immediately, Simon Bozas will assume the head coaching role previously held by Tatu. The team will begin their run for the 2015-16 Ron Newman Cup on Friday, November 13 at Allen Event Center at 7:30 p.m.
US-born and Argentinian-raised, Bozas has been immersed in the soccer world from a young age. After making his way through the highly competitive, full-immersion youth system with Deportivo Español, Bozas played professionally in Argentina's third division and Bolivia's first division before deciding to move back to the United States to pursue a career in finance.
Bozas went on to work in executive financial management with corporations of all sizes. He eventually made the transition to entrepreneurial business owner. Bozas has over 14 years of banking experience and has assisted in opening new market shares and managing multiple financial institutions.
Concurrent with his finance career, Bozas kept soccer close, coaching and managing teams for local adult tournaments. For the past 15 years he has passionately worked to put successful teams together using local talent, making him extremely familiar with the Dallas soccer scene and what it has to offer. This familiarity will serve as a great advantage in his appointment as General Manager and Head Coach.
Bozas is taking a highly strategic-based approach to putting together this year's roster, a core of familiar veterans flanked by an influx of local young talent.
"Myself and the new ownership group are excited to carry on the great tradition of indoor soccer in Dallas that the Sidekicks have established," Bozas said. "We are in the process of finalizing our team and signing tremendously talented players in order to make a strong run at the Ron Newman Cup this year. We're pushing forward and can't wait to get started."
Nick Stavrou will continue as Assistant Coach, a position he was awarded after retiring as a player in 2014.
Former Head Coach and Sidekicks legend Tatu will maintain a relationship with the Sidekicks, serving as Ambassador for the organization.
Announcements regarding player signings to come in the following weeks.
Last season the Sidekicks finished the regular season with a 14-6 record and advanced to the playoff for the third season in a row before losing to the Monterrey Flash in the Southern Division Finals. This season the Sidekicks will compete in the Pacific Division alongside the Ontario Fury, Tacoma Stars, Soles de Sonora and San Diego Sockers.
Individual tickets for all 2015-16 home games will go on sale soon. Season and group tickets are available by calling 469-200-GOAL or emailing email@example.com. To get the latest team updates, follow the team on Twitter and Instagram @GoSidekicks or on Facebook at facebook.com/GoSidekicks.
