Dallas Sidekicks Fall to Hidalgo La Fiera 12-9

HIDALGO, Texas (Dec. 29, 2013) - Despite a five-goal surge in the fourth period, the Sidekicks fell for just the second time this season, defeated by the Hidalgo La Fiera 12-9 on Sunday evening. The team moves to 6-2 for the 2013-14 season,.
The Sidekicks played a game of catch-up throughout the first period, Cody Ellis and Paulo da Silva tying the game twice at 2:15 and 9:13. Hidalgo had the last word of the first 15, Alejandro Morales scoring with just two seconds to go. The second period was all Hidalgo, who added two goals to make the score 5-2 going into halftime.
The Sidekicks made some headway in the third, Jamie Lovegrove scoring at 10:07. Hidalgo followed up with a goal of their own, but Nestor Hernandez answered back, which amounted to three goals in less than two minutes and saw Hidalgo up 6-4.
The net saw back and forth action on both sides in the fourth quarter, Lovegrove leading Dallas' comeback attempt with two goals and Hernandez, Franck Mbemba and Patrick Shamu with one each. It was not enough, however, to match Hidalgo's six fourth quarter goals, and the La Fiera came out on top 12-9 and handed the Sidekicks their second loss of the season.
The next week will be a tough test for the Sidekicks, as today's match marks the second of four games in nine days from Dec 27 to Jan 4. This weekend the Sidekicks are back at the Allen Event Center to take on the Wichita B-52s on Thursday, Jan 2 at 7:30 p.m. Then it is the Sidekicks' turn to make their way to Wichita, facing a rematch on Saturday, Jan 4 at 7:05 p.m.
