Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

SUGAR LAND, TX- The Atlantic League announced Friday that right-hander Dallas Beeler was named the league's Pitcher of the Month for June, marking the Skeeters' first monthly award-winner for the 2018 season.

Beeler, who was selected to the 2018 Atlantic League All-Star Game, went 5-0 with a 1.61 ERA over six June starts, striking out 33 batters to eight walks on just 22 hits over 39 1/3 innings pitched. The former Major Leaguer started the month by striking out a season-high 10 batters over seven scoreless innings of work in a 8-0 win over the York Revolution on June 3 at Constellation Field. The 10 strikeouts were also tied for the second-most in a single game in Skeeters history. In his final outing of the month, which came on June 30 against the Lancaster Barnstormers at Constellation Field, he threw eight no-hit innings on his way to picking up the win in a 4-0 Skeeters victory. It marked the longest no-hit bid by a Skeeters pitcher this season.

Beeler, 29, leads the Atlantic League with a .165 opponent's batting average, is tied for the league-lead with six wins, is second with a 1.99 ERA and is fifth with 54 strikeouts. His 54 strikeouts are also the most of any pitcher in the league with fewer than 60 innings pitched.

A veteran of eight professional seasons, Beeler is in the midst of his first season with the Skeeters and the Atlantic League. He made his Major League debut with the Chicago Cubs on June 28, 2014, and also appeared with the Cubs at the Major League level in 2015. The Cubs drafted Beeler in the 41st round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of Oral Roberts University. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native was also selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 37th round of the 2008 MLB Draft out of Jenks High School (Jenks, Okla.).

The Skeeters return to Constellation Field on Friday, July 13, to begin a seven-game series against the Road Warriors as fans can enjoy our Friday Fireworks post-game show to open the series. The first 2,000 fans in attendance on Saturday, July 14, will receive our Snow Globe Giveaway (courtesy of Sugar Land Holiday Lights) and can enjoy many in-game promotions for our Christmas in July, including a post-game jersey auction of our Christmas-themed uniforms.
