Dallas Acquires Pair with Top Picks

NEW YORK â The Dallas Desperados acquired the top two picks and selected wide receiver/defensive backs DEAUNTAE BROWN (5-11, 190, Central State, OH) and LUKE LEVERSON (5-11, 180, Minnesota) in the Dispersal Draft. Fourteen players were selected from the available roster of former Toronto Phantom players. The Carolina Cobras were the most active team by selecting five players.
Brown, who completed his rookie season in 2002, tallied 8.5 tackles and a pass breakup for the third-ranked Toronto defense (46.9 points per game). Leverson recorded 35 receptions for 476 yards and six touchdowns during 13 games in 2002.
The New York Dragons tabbed OL/DL MARVIN COLEY (6-5, 285, North Alabama) with the third selection, while the Carolina Cobras selected WR/DB LARRY CASHER (5-11, 170, Auburn) with the fourth pick. The Phantoms second leading rusher, FB/LB PHIL GLOVER (6-2, 240, Utah) was selected by the New Jersey Gladiators with the 12th pick.
