Dale Murphy Set to Meet Fans at BB&T Ballpark on August 11

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Three years after appearing at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, SC during the 2012 season, two-time National League MVP Dale Murphy will return to the Carolinas and make his BB&T Ballpark debut to sign autographs for fans on Tuesday, August 11. Back by popular demand, the former Atlanta Braves slugger will meet and greet fans on the same night the Knights host the Gwinnett Braves - the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Originally drafted by the Braves in the first round (fifth overall pick) of the 1974 amateur draft, "The Murph" played in 18 Major League seasons and won the NL MVP in 1982 and again in 1983. He led the National League in home runs twice and hit over 30 home runs in a season six times. The Portland, OR native launched a career-high 44 home runs in 1987.

Murphy retired from baseball after the 1993 season with a career .265 batting average, 398 home runs, and 1,266 RBIs. Among some of his accomplishments, he is a seven-time National League All-Star, a five-time Gold Glove award-winner, and four-time winner of the Silver Slugger award. On June 13, 1994, the Atlanta Braves retired his #3 jersey.

Tickets for this game, as well as all 72 regular season Knights home games, the Chicago White Sox exhibition game on April 3rd, and the Charlotte 49ers game on March 31st, will go on sale to the general public beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21 at BB&T Ballpark. Tickets will then go on sale by phone (704-274-8282) and online (CharlotteKnights.com) starting at noon.

Season tickets, as well as 18-game partial ticket plans for the 2015 season at BB&T Ballpark, are on sale now and can be purchased online at charlotteknights.com, by phone at 704-274-8282, or in person at the BB&T Ballpark Ticket Office located at 324 S. Mint St. The Charlotte Knights return home to BB&T Ballpark on Friday, April 3 as they host the Chicago White Sox in an exhibition game. Tickets for the Knights Leadoff Luncheon are also on sale now. Opening Knight of the 2015 season is set for Thursday, April 9.
