Rochester Red Wings News Release
Rochester, NY - Pitchers and catchers for many Major League teams are already reporting to their Spring Training camps in Arizona and Florida. Yet---here in Western New York---the temperatures remain frigid. With that in mind, Rochester Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason today issued a bold guarantee.
"This Friday (February 20) marks exactly 50 days away from the Red Wings home opener on Saturday, April 11. Despite the current cold and snow, I am so confident the weather will be good for our home opener that I am making a 50-degree guarantee," said Mason. "If the temperature does not reach 50 degrees at some point during our Opening Day game with the Buffalo Bisons, fans can use their Opening Day ticket for a free ticket to any other April or May Red Wings home game."
The normal high temperature for Rochester on April 11 is 53 degrees with an all-time high on that date of 85 degrees in 1945 according to the National Weather Service.
The Red Wings also announced that tickets for the April 11 Home Opener will go on sale online at RedWingsBaseball.com on Friday, February 20 at 9 a.m. "We unveiled a new online ticketing system last year that made purchasing Red Wings tickets more convenient than ever," said Mason. "On Friday, fans can start using that same system again at RedWingsBaseball. com to make sure they get the best seats possible for what promises to be a tremendous Opening Day."
Ordering online at RedWingsBaseball.com is the only way to purchase tickets for Opening Day until the Frontier Field Ticket Office opens for the season on Saturday, March 28. At that point, fans can purchase tickets to any Red Wings home game in 2015 either online or at the Frontier Field Ticket Office.
The Red Wings open the 2015 season on Thursday, April 9 against the Buffalo Bisons at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY. Two days later, on Saturday, April 11, the Wings' 19th season at Frontier Field commences with a 1:35 p.m. matinee against the Bisons.
