Dakota Shoots Past Texas

Bismarck, N.D. (Mar. 28, 2012) - In his first game back since being called up to the NBA's Washington Wizards, Edwin Ubiles picked up where he left off leading the Dakota Wizards to a 147-126 over the visiting Legends of Texas. Ubiles finished the night with 28 points on 11 for 14 shooting from the field and 2 for 2 from behind the arc. The Wizards 147 points is a team high in the Development League this season.

Neither team had trouble putting the ball in the hoop on Wednesday night with Dakota jumping out to a 34-27 lead after the first quarter. The bench took over for the Wizards in the second with Taylor Griffin scoring all eight of his points in the quarter to give the Wizards a 15 point lead (69-54) at the break.

Dakota continued their hot shooting in the third pushing their lead to as many as 23 points on a reverse slam by Chris Wright with just over five minutes left in the quarter. The Wizards broke 100 points at the 1:23 mark and held a 105-84 lead with one quarter remaining. Booker Woodfox lead the way in the fourth as Texas went on a 17-4 run to start the fourth and cut Dakota's lead to eight with eight minutes left on the clock. The comeback was short lived as Dakota shot 73.7% in the quarter to finish the Legends off.

Both Chris Wright and Stefhon Hannah scored 22 points for the Wizards in the win and Shy Ely came off the bench to chip in 14.

Alando Tucker paced Texas with 23 points in the loss.

Dakota now stands at 25-20 on the season and Texas drops to 24-21. The same two teams square off tomorrow night at 7:00 pm at the Bismarck Civic Center.
