Montreal Alouettes News Release
St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, June 21, 2009 - The Alouettes held their final full practice of training camp today at Brossard's Bell Sports Complex as they prepped for their final pre-season game this Tuesday night at Percival Molson Stadium.
The Als (1-0-0) will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-0-0), with several starters seeing game action for the first time this year. With that in mind, the team will hold its final walkthrough Monday morning around 9 a.m. outdoors at the Campus du Fort St-Jean.
Celebrating Father's Day and the first day of summer...
Following their practice session, the Als, the team's staff, and everyone's families were invited to a Father's Day barbecue featuring hamburgers, steaks and chicken brochettes on site at the campus.
Head coach Marc Trestman also gave his players a break this afternoon to give everyone a chance to relax and enjoy their families.
Stewart, Proulx & Calvillo need you!
Anwar Stewart, Matthieu Proulx & Anthony Calvillo are the Alouettes' representatives in Reebok's new "Your Move" contest, featured on www.reebokfootball.ca, and they need your help!
"It's a lot of fun and we need our fans to help us a little here. I want to go all the way and win this!" Stewart explained. "The more they vote for us and the more they answer trivia questions correctly every day, the more they increase their chance to win great prizes. Plus, it's free!"
Fans who take a few seconds to vote for their favourite Alouette will have a chance to win all kinds of Reebok gear and even a chance to go to the 2009 Grey Cup in Calgary!
For the vote, each player has posed doing his "signature move." In Stewart's case, he calls his move the "Road Runner" - an homage to the famous cartoon character who is always being chased by Wile E. Coyote.
"When I run past by tackles, I give them the "Beep, Beep' just like they're the coyote, then it's all about speed to get to the quarterback," Stewart said. "In the video that will soon be available on the site, I can tell you Kerry Joseph got it pretty bad on that play! That was a good hit!"
Calvillo will take on the Eskimos' Jesse Lumsden, starting on July 9, Stewart will face Saskatchewan's Wes Cates as of July 16, and Proulx will face the Ticats' Marwan Hage as of July 23.
