D-Jaxx and Lookouts are rained out on Saturday night

CHATTANOOGA. TENN - The Diamond Jaxx game with the Mississippi Braves, scheduled for tonight at 7:05 has been cancelled due to rain and storms in Chattanooga. The game will be made up as part of a double-header Monday night, with the first game beginning at 6:05. The second game will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Game one of the series will be tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon, with the first pitch at 1:15 CDT.

The Diamond Jaxx are currently in a second place tie with Tennessee at 18-16 in the North Division. The Diamond Jaxx and Lookouts will meet for the second series of the season tomorrow at AT&T Field in Chattanooga. The first meeting of the year came in late May with the first two games being postponed due to rain. West Tenn took three of the five games and outscored the Lookouts 29-14 in the series. The Jaxx capped off the series with an 11-1 thumping on Saturday, May 30th at Pringles Park. Johan Limonta hit .462 (6x13) in the series with a homer and six RBI.

The pitching matchup in game one on Sunday will feature RHP Luis Munoz (4-5, 4.48) for the Diamond Jaxx and RHP Kendy Batista (5-0, 1.72) for the Lookouts.

With the victory on Thursday night, July becomes the Jaxx most successful month of the season. The Jaxx are 13-13 this month despite the lowest batting average in a month, .230. West Tenn was 9-2 in July entering the All-Star break and are 4-11 since the break.

Ezequiel Carrera returns on Sunday after missing 18 games due to a right thumb injuy suffered on July 8th. Carrera is leading the team with a .322 batting average and a .441 on-base percentage. Carrera has had two stints on the disabled list this season and has played in only 57 games. To make room for Carrera, OF, Brent Johnson has been sent to Single-A High Desert in the California League.
