Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League fell to the Fort Worth Flyers 96-93 in this afternoon's match-up at STAPLES Center, dropping their sixth consecutive game.
Fort Worth shot 55% and outscored the D-Fenders 28-18 in the fourth quarter. The Flyers held Los Angeles to just 3 points in the final 2 minutes.
"I thought that the game came down to us executing our offense and getting some defensive stops. Our defense came alive in the closing moments and got the stops that we needed to win the game," said Flyers Head Coach Sidney Moncrief.
Fort Worth forward Jeremy Richardson scored 24 points on 9-15 shooting. Flyers point guard Curtis Stinson had 24 points and 10 assists.
All five of Los Angeles' starters scored in double figures. Guard Brian Chase led the D-Fenders with 19 points. Forward Sean Banks added 15 points and a team high 7 assists.
Forward Nick Lewis recorded his first double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the D-Fenders.
Los Angeles shot 27% from beyond the arc and 68% from the free-throw line.
"It was a pretty disappointing game. I give the Flyers credit. They made the plays and we didn't," said D-Fenders Head Coach Dan Panaggio.
Fort Worth leads this series 1-2. The D-Fenders now sit at 19-23 (.452) with a month left in the regular season.
Los Angeles will host the Bakersfield Jam on Sunday, March 25 at STAPLES Center, before the Lakers game with a 2:30pm tip off. This will be the final regular season meeting between the two teams, with the D-Fenders leading the series 3-2.
