
D-Fenders Acquire Babacar Camara

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League have acquired center Babacar Camara to fill the roster spot after waiving guard John Gilchrist.
Babacar Camara (6-11, 250), a native of Senegal, played collegiately at Cal State Fullerton and has spent the last two years in China playing for the Jilin Northeast Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association, where he was second in the league in rebounding with 13.6 per game this season. Camara has also played for the Senegalese National Team.
Gilchrist played in 10 games for Los Angeles this season, averaging 3.6 points and 1.5 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game.
Camara will wear jersey # 51.
Today, catch the Laker Girls when Los Angeles hosts the Fort Worth Flyers at STAPLES Center, before the Lakers game, with a 1:00pm tip off. This will be the third meeting between the two teams, with this series tied at 1-1. The Laker Girls will be signing autographs on the concourse at Halftime. Fans can also enter a sweepstakes to try and win a Lakers and a D-Fenders autographed team ball, winner will be announced during the 3rd quarter break of the D-Fenders game. Entry forms will be located at the Season Seats Booth on the main concourse of STAPLES Center (Figueroa Street Entrance) and the sweepstakes is open to anyone 18 years and older. Completed entry forms must be turned in by the end of Halftime during the D-Fenders game.
Having a Lakers ticket for a STAPLES Center home game is also your ticket to a lower level seat for the D-Fenders. Lakers season ticket holders who attend a D-Fenders home game will receive a special gift, while supplies last, by visiting the Season Ticket Holder Booth on the main concourse at the Figueroa Street Entrance.
On July 31, 2006 the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they had become the first NBA franchise in history to own an NBA Development League team. The Los Angeles D-Fenders play their home games at STAPLES Center pre and post Lakers home games. The Lakers devoted fans were given the opportunity to name the NBA D-League team in an online naming contest.
