
D-Fenders Dropped by Bighorns

Lakers assignment player Jordan Clarkson led the D-Fenders (5-14) with 35 points, connecting on 16-of-23 field goal attempts, while also handing out 11 assists and grabbing six rebounds. Roscoe Smith recorded his 14th double-double of the season with 32 points and 15 rebounds, while also handing out a season-high seven assists. Vander Blue scored a season high 31 points and dished out 10 assists. Jabari Brown finished with 26 points and seven assists, while Lakers assignment Tarik Black tallied 23 points and 12 rebounds, followed by Keith Appling with 12 points and seven assists for Los Angeles.
Brady Heslip scored a team-high 35 points for the Bighorns (8-7), while David Wear netted 33 points off the bench for Reno. Ra'shad James (20 points, six assists), Tajuan Porter (16 points), Durrell Summers (16 points), David Stockton (15 points, 11 assists), Quincy Miller (15 points) and Jordan Hamilton (14 points, 11 rebounds) all scored in double figures for Reno.
The points came early and often in this contest, with Reno leading 50-45 after the first quarter. Clarkson tallied 10 points and three assists for L.A., while Black added eight points of his own. Heslip led Reno with 15 points, connecting on 5-of-5 three point attempts. Los Angeles took control in the second quarter, finishing with 53 points and holding Reno to 37. Blue connected on six-of-six field goals and finished the quarter with 15 points, followed by Brown with 10. Miller led the Bighorns with nine points in the second. Los Angeles broke its own record for points in a half tonight, tallying 98 points in the first half and leading 98-87 at the break.
It was a slow third quarter for the D-Fenders, who scored 30 points and allowed 42. Heslip was the difference in the quarter, tallying 12 points, followed by James with nine for Reno. Smith led L.A. with 11 points. Reno would hold a 129-128 lead after three. Los Angeles fought hard in the fourth quarter behind 11 points from Clarkson and 10 from Black. The D-Fenders shot .654 in the quarter, but Reno tallied 45 points of their own and would hold on to win 174-169.
Los Angeles shot .643 from the field, compared to .522 for Reno. The Bighorns connected on 28-of-61 three's, while the D-Fenders shot 4-of-19. Reno tallied 28 second chance points, compared to 18 for Los Angeles. The D-Fenders scored 118 points in the paint, compared to 58 for Reno.
The D-Fenders are on the road at Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday, January 7th to face the Vipers at 5:00pm PT.
