
D-Fenders Defeat Jam for Second Straight Win

EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Los Angeles D-Fenders toppled the Bakersfield Jam for their second consecutive win, earning a 107-99 victory at Toyota Sports Center on Wednesday night.
Trailing by 10 points after the first quarter, the D-Fenders outscored the Jam 31-20 in the second frame to go up 52-51 at halftime. After four lead changes in the first four minutes out of the locker room, the D-Fenders played to a tie with the Jam and remained in front 79-78 heading into the fourth quarter. Beginning the final quarter on an 18-8 run, the D-Fenders jumped out to their largest lead of the night (11 points) and squashed any comeback attempt by the first place Jam to earn the win.
Los Angeles (9-15) saw six players finish with double-digit scoring efforts, led by Zach Andrews (22 points, 13 rebounds, 4 steals), Gary Flowers (21 points, 2 blocks) and Elijah Millsap (19 points). Courtney Fortson also chipped in 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Orien Greene tallied 13 points and four steals, and newly-acquired Morris Almond totaled 10 points and six rebounds, rounding out the D-Fenders in double-figures.
Additionally, playing in his first game with the D-Fenders, Lazar Hayward pulled down 10 rebounds to go along with five points, helping his team win the rebounding battle 46-33. The D-Fenders, who shot 50 percent on the evening, also forced their opponent into 22 turnovers for the second consecutive game.
Bakersfield (17-9) was guided by Jerel McNeal, who registered a game-high 26 points and six assists, and Renaldo Major, who posted 17 points in the loss. Adam Koch added 16 points and seven rebounds, James Nunnally scored 12 points and Brian Butch grabbed 10 rebounds for the Jam.
The D-Fenders depart tomorrow for the first of four consecutive road contests, starting with the Idaho Stampede (NBA Affiliate: Portland) on Friday, February 1st at 6pm.
