Washington, D.C. (November 11, 2005) - Today, Major League Soccer announced the RadioShack All-Time Best XI team. D.C. United's Jaime Moreno was among those players honored as the best in MLS history. United Head Coach Peter Nowak was also named to the team for his stellar five-year career with the Chicago Fire (1998-02). Former United standouts Jeff Agoos, Marco Etcheverry and Eddie Pope were also honored as members of the All-Time Best XI.

Moreno, who has been with United for all but one season of his 10-year MLS career, has been named to the MLS Best XI on three occasions (97, 99 & 04) and as an MLS All-Star six times (97, 98, 99, 00, 04 & 05). He is the only player to be a part of all four of United's MLS Cup championships and was named as the MLS Cup MVP in 1997. He is second all-time in MLS goals scored, with 94, and was runner up for the MLS MVP award in both 2004 and 2005.

Nowak helped the Fire earn the MLS Cup championship in 1998, during its inaugural season, when he was named the game's MVP. The center midfielder was named to the MLS Best XI three times (98, 00 & 01) and as an MLS All-Star on three occasions (98, 99 & 00). He finished his career with 28 goals. He led United to the MLS Cup championship during his first year as a professional head coach last year.

Etcheverry is considered by many to be the best player in MLS history. The Bolivian joined the Black-and-Red for it's inaugural season and helped lead the team to three MLS Cup championships, while being named to the MLS Best XI four times (96, 97, 98 & 99). He was an All-star seven times (96, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01 & 02) and was also named as the MLS Cup MVP in 1996. Additionally, he was the MLS MVP in 1998, when he led D.C. to the InterAmerican Cup and CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Agoos, who is now a member of the MetroStars, spent his first five seasons in MLS with United. Pope, who is now with Real Salt Lake, spent his first seven seasons with D.C. He scored the overtime sudden-death goal that sent United to the first-ever MLS Cup championship in 1996. He was named to the Best XI twice with United (97 & 98) and four times, overall, while also being named as an All-Star six times with D.C. (97, 98, 99, 00, 01 & 02), and eight times in all.
