D-Braves stung by P-Rays

Danville, VA - The Danville Braves lost 10-8 on Thirsty Thursday to the visiting Princeton Devil Rays. The loss leaves the Braves seven and a half games up on the Devil Rays with twelve games remaining.

Quentin Davis lead the Braves offense going three for four with an RBI and two runs. Yohan Silva and Derrick Arnold both went two for four while Ovandy Suero and Jose Santos contributed the remaining two Danville hits.

Braves starter Jairo Cuevas pitched three and a third inning allowing six runs to pick up his first loss of the season. Adam Stanley pitched a third of an inning allowing the remaining four runs while three relievers combined to pitch the final five and a third shutout innings.

Andrew Lopez and Chris Cunningham provided six of the 13 P-Rays hits to lead the offense. Matt Walker pitched four and a third inning to get a no-decision. Brett Nagy pitched the final three innings to pick up his first win of the season.

The Braves return home next Thursday to take on the Johnson City Cardinals for three games before the Bluefield Orioles come to town on August 28 for three days. August 25 is Danville - Pittsylvania County Chamber Night and College Night at the ballpark where members of the Danville - Pittsylvania County Chamber and all college students will receive admission to the game for only $2.00.
