D-Braves Streak Ends at Seven

DANVILLE, Va. - The Danville Braves (12-11) saw their winning streak come to an end at the hands of Princeton (6-18) who rallied in extra innings to knock off Danville. Hunter Lockwood launched a solo homer off the scoreboard in right to avoid the sweep and win the contest 6-5.

Andry Ubiera struggled in his second outing against the Rays allowing six hits in just 3.2 innings. The Rays tagged Ubiera for three run. Only one of the runs being earned as a Ronald Luna throwing error that led to two more runs coming around to score for Princeton.

Danville got on the board early in the game with Bryan De La Rosa singling to right and then stealing second base. With De La Rosa in scoring position, Jacob Schader hit a double off the center field wall to score the catcher from second. Justin Black started his impressive night off with an RBI single to plate Schrader.

Princeton struck with the aforementioned three runs in the top of the fourth to take a one run lead, but Black answered in the bottom half of the frame with his first homer of the season, a solo shot to left centerfield.

Danville jumped out in front in the seventh by two as Connor Lien tripled off the top of the wall to not only break the tie game, but extend his impressive hit streak to 10 games.

In the eighth off reliever Michael Flores, Princeton rallied to tie the game back up with a sacrifice fly to left and then an RBI single by leftfielder Elias Torres.

Danville threatened in the ninth with runners on second and third after a two out double by Lien, but Johan Camargo grounded out to send the game to extras.

After Anthony Nunez gunned down Jesus Araiza trying to steal second, Lockwood connect with the 0-2 offering and hit it off the scoreboard off reliever Ryan Gunther.

Issac Gil set the D-Braves down in order in the tenth to earn his second win of the season for Princeton.

The entire Appy League will have a day off Tuesday and the D-Braves will return after the day off to begin a stretch of five games in three days against the Kingsport Mets. The series starts with a doubleheader Wednesday beginning at 5:00 p.m.
