
D-Braves Drop Lopsided Affair

DANVILLE, VA- D-Braves Starter Luis Gamez surrendered 6 first inning runs and only pitched two thirds of an inning and was replaced by Sean McGlaughlin. The rest of the game would go the same for the D-Braves as the Bristol Pirates would add runs in the fifth, sixth, and ninth innings, as well as a grandslam in the top of the seventh inning to give the Pirates a 13-3 win.
The D-Braves surrendered their most runs, and most hits in a game to the Pirates today, as the Pirates tie the series at 1-1. Danville would score one of its three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Catcher Alejandro Flores would send a single to right field to lead off the inning for the D-Braves. Ray Didder would do the same as he singled to right, advancing Flores to third. Braves outfielder Jose Morel would then send a sacrifice fly deep to left field scoring Flores to break up the shut out.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, D-Braves third baseman Jacob Lanning would lead off the inning with a double to right field. With Lanning in scoring position Yeudi Grullon would beat out an infield single to put runners on first and third with Lanning advancing to third on the play. Kelvin Estevez would then continue his hot hitting as he singled home Lanning to make the score at the time 12-2. The very next batter, Flores, would add to his three hit night and also add an rbi double to make the score 12-3 Pirates.
Danville will look to win the rubber match tomorrow at 7:00 pm. Tomorrow's pitching matchup will be Patrick Weigel for the D-Braves, and Gage Hinsz will be on the mound for the Pirates. Monday is also Dollar Dog Night presented by Kunzler Meats.
