DANVILLE, Va. - Danville Braves shortstop Jose Peraza hit a decisive two-run double in the fifth inning to give the D-Braves the only two runs they would need to complete the sweep of the Pulaski Mariners 2-1 Monday night at American Legion Post 325 Field.

It was a pitcher's duel through three innings after a 60-minute rain delay. M's starter Charles Kaalekahi retired seven batters in a row before third baseman Trenton Moses singled to end the streak with the first hit of the game in the bottom of the third.

But the M's were the first to get on the board. In the top of the fourth designated hitter Dario Pizzano reached second base on a single and an error. He scored on Braves starter Mauricio Cabrera's third wild pitch of the game, his eighth of the season, which leads the Appalachian League.

Right fielder Blake Brown broke an 0-for-4 streak with a one-out double in the fifth. On his second single of the game, Moses pushed Brown to third before shortstop Jose Peraza hit a big two-run double for his third and fourth RBI of the series.

Cabrera pitched 5.0 innings and allowed one run (earned) on three hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Reliever Clint Wright earned a hold and Nathan Hyatt the save, his third of the season. Kaalekahi suffers the loss, his second of the season.

The D-Braves begin a three-game road trip tomorrow against the Burlington Royals. Rightie Frank LaFreniere (3-0), the only undefeated pitcher on the starting staff, will toe the rubber for the Braves and look to win his third straight game and fourth of the season. Lefty Colin Rodgers (1-0) will head to the mound for the Royals.

The SweetRight Brothers entertainment act will entertain fans of all ages with on field performances on the July 20 game against the Burlington Royals.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Ticket Office at (434) 797-3792 or in-person at the ALP 325 Field Box Office (Mon. - Fri., 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).
