Lexington Legends News Release
Brooke Kendall of Cynthiana is the winner of the Lexington Legends' "Guess Who's on Deck" contest and will receive two box season seats for 2011.
Kendall correctly guessed that the new name of the Legends' home park would be Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The Legends invited fans to submit their entries after it was announced in December that the park would have a new name in 2011. The Legends and Whitaker Bank officials announced an agreement on naming rights at a news conference Thursday, January 20.
"It's awesome," said Kendall, a graduate of Harrison County High School and now a student at Morehead State University. "I was surprised to hear that I had won. " She said she would "definitely" make good use of the season seats.
She said her younger brother Brandon, who plays baseball at Harrison County High School, suggested she submit Whitaker Bank as her entry.
In addition to receiving the season seats, Brooke Kendall will throw a ceremonial first pitch at a Legends game during the 2011 season.
"Harrison County keeps bringing winners to our ballpark," said Legends General Manager Andy Shea. "State baseball champs, and now Brooke. This was an incredibly fun contest that produced over 60 different guesses. We're proud to have Brooke on board for the 2011 season and thankful for her participation."
""This has been a very exciting period in Legends history," said Legends President and CEO Alan Stein. "We hope our fans had fun with the 'Guess Who's On Deck' contest. Congratulations to Brooke, and we'll look forward to seeing her this season at Whitaker Bank Ballpark."
The Legends are members of the South Atlantic League and a class A affiliate of the Houston Astros. The Legends open their season Thursday, April 7 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark against the Charleston RiverDogs, an affiliate of the New York Yankees.
