Cyclones Hold on for 6-4 Win; Series Sweep of BlueClaws

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Trailing 6-1, the BlueClaws scored three times in the ninth but their comeback attempt fell short as Brooklyn topped the BlueClaws 6-4 on Sunday in ShoreTown Ballpark.

Jersey Shore tried to rally in the ninth. Ethan Wilson singled home two to cut the lead to 6-4, but Carlos De La Cruz grounded out to second to end the game. Daison Acosta, who came on for the last two outs, earned his third save.

The BlueClaws have now dropped 12 straight home games and fall to 6-17/31-58 on the year. Brooklyn (14-10/44-46) is 16-5 against the BlueClaws this season.

Jersey Shore opened the scoring in the third inning on an RBI double from Uziel Viloria. He drovein Baron Radcliff, who had drawn a walk.

Brooklyn scored four times, all unearned, in the fourth, to take the lead. Joe Suozzi opened the scoring with a two run single off Dominic Pipkin. Later in the inning, Gregory Guerrero walked with the bases loaded off Pipkin and Matt Rudick walked with the bases loaded off Carlos Francisco for a 4-1 lead.

After Taylor Lehman threw a scoreless fifth, the Cyclones got two off Brett Schulze in the sixth on a two-run double by Guerrero. Schulze was making his BlueClaws debut.

Wilson and Freylin Minyety each had two hits for the BlueClaws in the loss. Joe Suozzi was 3-3 for the Cyclones.

The BlueClaws head to Wilmington and take on the Blue Rocks in a seven-game, six day series that begins on Tuesday night.
