KELLY CUP EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS - GAME 7 / WET WEDNESDAY
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: After playing the longest game in club playoff history, the Cyclones are back on the ice tonight to host the Gwinnett Gladiators in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals - needing just one more win to advance. This game was supposed to take place in Gwinnett, but due to a scheduling conflict in their home arena, the series has remained in Cincinnati. However, the Glads will technically be the home team tonight and be allowed certain benefits they would have been enjoyed had the game been in Georgia.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: $2 BIG BEERS - Fans 21+ can enjoy $2 24-ounce Labatt Blue and Molson
SCOUTING THE GLADIATORS: John Wroblewski's club was heavily out shot on Saturday night, mustering just 20 in the marathon, averaging less than 4.5 per frame. Former Cyclone Casey Pierro-Zabotel remains atop the Glads scoring list this postseason, notching 9 points (1 goal, 8 assists) in as many games. Goaltender Louis Domingue nearly stole the show on Saturday, but was beaten despite making 45 saves. He is 6-3 during these playoffs with a 1.93 goals-against average.
About Game 5 vs. Gwinnett: Rookie Trevor Lewis buried his first professional playoff game-winning goal at 12:29 of the second overtime to lift the Cyclones to a exhilarating 3-2 win over the Gladiators in front of 2,246 at U.S. Bank Arena. With 92 minutes and 29 seconds played before the winner, it was the longest game in Cyclones club history.
Plenty of Bonus Hockey: With Saturday night's marathon, the Cyclones tied their club record for overtime games in a single postseason. This year's group has played in four contests that have extended beyond 60 minutes. The Clones are 3-1 in OT games, three of which have gone into double OT.
Shooting Gallery: While this series began quietly in the shots on goal category, the Cyclones have ramped up their pressure on Louis Domingue. The Cyclones have registered more than 40 shots in two straight games for just the second time in playoff history. They've notched 89 shots over the last two games. Their 48 offerings on Saturday was the third-most ever in a single playoff game.
