Cutthroats Tether the Sundogs

Denver - The Denver Cutthroats faced off with the Arizona Sundogs on Friday, December 13 at the Denver Coliseum. The Cutthroats tied the 2013-14 season series with the Sundogs tonight after a 4-1 victory.

Denver's team captain Aaron MacKenzie (Dan Barczuk, Troy Schwab) scored the first and only goal in the opening period of the night on a vicious slap shot. Teammate T.J. Fox (Steve Kaunisto) scored his second short-handed goal of the season to give the Cutthroats a 2-0 lead over the Sundogs. On the power play, Arizona's Travis Ouellette (Paul McIlveen, Michael Trebish) fired the puck past Denver's Kent Patterson for the first and only time of the night to close the second period 2-1 Cutthroats.

J.P. Chabot (Matt Glasser, Phil Tesoriero) gave the Denver Cutthroats a two-point lead just moments into the third period. Less than two minutes later, Troy Schwab (Garett Bembridge, Barczuk) scored the fourth goal to put the game out of the Sundogs reach and seal the night with a 4-1 victory.

The Denver Cutthroats and Arizona Sundogs will meet again Saturday, December 14 at the Denver Coliseum. The first 1500 fans at the game will receive a pair of sunglasses, sponsored by Cornerstone Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. All fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used teddy bear on Saturday night to toss on the ice after the Cutthroats first goal. Dawg Nation Hockey Foundation will also provide teddies at the Coliseum for a small donation. All stuffed animals will be donated to the Denver Santa Claus Shop following Saturday night's game.
