Cutthroats Shut Out Oilers in Aspen

Aspen - The Denver Cutthroats hosted the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday, January 4 at Lewis Ice Arena in Aspen, Colorado. Denver swept Tulsa in a pair of games, finishing the weekend series with a 2-0 shutout.

The 2014 U.S. Women's Snowboarding Halfpipe Team opened the Denver Cutthroats game on Saturday night. Olympians Kelly Clark and Ellery Hollingsworth presented the honorary puck drop for the Cutthroats second game in the inaugural Colorado Tour.

After a scoreless opening period, J.P. Chabot (Steve Kaunisto, Garett Bembridge) lit up the red light on the power play for the Cutthroats first goal of the night.

J.P. Chabot (Troy Schwab, Bembridge) scored his second goal of the night on the power play early in the third period to give the Denver Cutthroats a 2-0 lead over the Tulsa Oilers. Cutthroats netminder Kent Patterson stopped 41 of 41 shots on goal to shutout the Oilers 2-0 during the second game in the mountains.

The Denver Cutthroats will head to St. Charles, Missouri on Wednesday, January 8 to take on the Chill at The Family Arena. The Cutthroats Colorado Tour will continue on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25 in Vail, Colorado at Dobson Ice Arena. Denver will host the Arizona Sundogs for a two-game home series in the mountains to conclude the Cutthroats inaugural Colorado Tour.
