Cutthroats Put a Stop to Mavericks' Streak

Denver - The Denver Cutthroats battled the Missouri Mavericks at the Denver Coliseum on Friday, February 21. The Cutthroats came within four points of the Central Hockey League's leading contender on Friday night with a 6-2 victory over the Mavericks.

Shorthanded, Kyle Fletcher (T.J. Fox, Sean Zimmerman) scored the opening goal and his first of the season for the Denver Cutthroats. Garett Bembridge (A.J. Gale, Troy Schwab) found a slot from the crease to give the Cutthroats a 2-0 lead to close the first 20 minutes of play.

A.J. Gale (Bembridge, Lee Moffie) returned Friday night from the American Hockey League's Manchester Monarchs to score his sixth goal of the season for the Cutthroats. Sebastien Thinel (Eric Castonguay) scored the first goal of the night for Missouri to put the score at 3-1. Less than two minutes later, Aaron MacKenzie held the puck in the Maverick's zone for Vincent Arseneau to put a shot in Missouri's cage. Mavericks John-Scott Dickson (Obi Aduba, Colten Hayes) ripped a shot top shelf past Cutthroats Kent Patterson to cut the deficit by one.

Denver's Mikael Tam (Schwab, Gale) found the back of Missouri's net with a shot through traffic, putting the score 5-2 Cutthroats. Troy Schwab (Gale, Bembridge) lit up the lamp for the Cutthroats sixth and final goal of the night to secure the team's victory 6-2 over the Mavericks. Friday night's victory marked the Denver Cutthroats longest winning streak in franchise history with six consecutive wins.
