DENVER, CO - Pro Hockey made its return to the Denver Coliseum over the weekend for the first time in 23 years as the Denver Cutthroats began their inaugural, 2012-13 season splitting a weekend set against the visiting Missouri Mavericks. The Cutthroats now get ready for a home-and-home series with their geographic rival, the Rapid City Rush, beginning Friday in Rapid City, South Dakota.

October 19 vs. Missouri Mavericks, 4-3 (OT) Win

AJ Gale scored the first goal in franchise history, and Jamie MacQueen was the hero with the game-winner 2:05 into overtime as the Cutthroats won their inaugural game as a franchise. Kent Patterson earned the first win of his pro career stopping 29 of 32 shots.

October 20 vs. Missouri Mavericks, 8-5 Loss

It was another historic night for AJ Gale, who scored the first hat trick in franchise history as part of a four-point night. NHL defenseman Kyle Quincey also scored his first goal in a Cutthroats uniform, but the Mavericks pulled out the 8-5 win with four point games from Trevor Kell (four assists) and Jeff Pierce (two goals, two assists).

The regular season matchup begins this weekend between the rival Cutthroats and Rapid City Rush. Denver and Rapid City are schedule to meet 16 total times this season. The two clubs met for a pair of preseason contests with Rapid City winning both in the Black Hills. Friday's game is the home opener for the Rapid City Rush.
