Rapid City Rush News Release
(Denver, CO) - In the contest of a three-game swing for the Rapid City Rush, Denver Cutthroats goaltender Kieran Millan turned aside 22 shots for his second shutout of the season in a 3-0 triumph. This marks the second this season, and 11th all-time shutout of the Rush. Rapid City looks to bounce back this weekend in a pair of road games against the Bloomington Blaze.
Despite a strong first ten minutes by the Rush, the Cutthroats jumped out to a 1-0 lead thirteen minutes in. A two-on-one chance culminated in a centering pass by Brad Smyth that caromed off a Rush defenseman and past Danny Battochio. Awarded a powerplay with just twelve seconds left, the Cutthroats capitalized and doubled the lead with only :04 remaining on a goal from Aaron MacKenzie.
The Cutthroats received an insurance goal from A.J. Gale who took advantage of a defensive zone turnover for his 15th goal of the season, an unassisted play at 18:32.
