Cutthroats Frozen in Shootout

St. Charles, Missouri - The Denver Cutthroats faced the St. Charles Chill for the first time in franchise history on Friday, December 6 at Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. In a five-round shootout, the St. Charles Chill defeated the Denver Cutthroats 3-2.

On the power play, Denver's Garett Bembridge (Steve Kaunisto, Troy Schwab) scored the first goal of the night to put the Cutthroats up 1-0 over the St. Charles Chill. Bembridge now leads the Central Hockey League in power play goals with seven in 20 games.

With 44 seconds remaining in the second period, the Chill's Steve Anthony (Nicklas Lindberg) tied the score 1-1. The Denver Cutthroats led the St. Charles Chill in shots on goal with 12 in the first period and 11 in the second.

The St. Charles Chill took the lead for the first time of the night when Zack Josepher (Anthony Perdicaro) fired a shot at the Denver Cutthroats top left corner. Denver's Bembridge snuck a shot on a well-defended cage to tie the score 2-2 and send the game into overtime. After a scoreless five minutes, the Chill and Cutthroats headed into a five-round shootout. St. Charles Anthony Perdicaro scored the first and only goal in the shootout to finish the night 3-2 Chill.

The Denver Cutthroats and St. Charles Chill will meet again on Saturday, December 7 at Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. The Cutthroats will return to Denver to host the Chill on Wednesday, December 11 at the Denver Coliseum. On Wednesday, the Denver Cutthroats partner with the National Western Stock Show for "Western Night."
